Just days after the announcement of the DOMINATION by PBS in the News and Documentary Emmy nominations, comes this great news . . .
The nominees for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced in Los Angeles by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. PBS programs garnered an impressive 26 nominations, including program nominations in the Miniseries; Special Class; Nonfiction Series; and Reality Series categories. Ian McKellen, Kenneth Branagh and Kevin Kline all received best actor nominations for their performances on PBS programs.
MASTERPIECE received 13 nominations, including 11 for “Little Dorrit”; AMERICAN MASTERS and GREAT PERFORMANCES both received 4 nominations; and AMERICAN EXPERIENCE received 2 nominations. In addition, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, GEORGE CARLIN: THE KENNEDY CENTER MARK TWAIN PRIZE and MAKE ‘EM LAUGH: THE FUNNY BUSINESS OF AMERICA all received nominations.
PBS’ 26 nominations are more than A&E, Bravo, Discovery Channel and History combined.
Last year, PBS received 33 nominations and won 10 Primetime Emmys.
