At 8pm tune-in for the new ‘Radio City Christmas Spectacular Starring The Rockettes”. This holiday special features numbers like legendary “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” and thrill as Santa takes you on a magical ride to his workshop at the North Pole, where playful ragdolls come to life. Everyone marvels at the stunning reenactment of the first Christmas in the “Living Nativity”

Taped in December 1999 at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, accompanied by the Vienna Symphony and joined by the Gumpoldskirchner Spatzen Children’s Choir, this program features popular Christmas songs such as “White Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” as well as beloved carols and sacred songs such as “O Holy Night,” and “Amazing Grace.”

At the height of the protests following Iran’s controversial presidential election this summer, a young woman named Neda Soltan was shot and killed on the streets of Tehran. Her death–filmed on a camera phone, then uploaded to the Web–quickly became an international outrage, and Soltan became the face of a powerful movement that threatened the hard-line government’s hold on power.

In  A Death in Tehran, FRONTLINE revisits the events of last summer, shedding new light on the life and death of Neda Soltan and the movement she helped inspire.

Today – November 10th 2009  SESAME STREET celebrates its 40th Birthday!!  Many of us grew up with Sesame Street and now have children or grandchildren doing the same.

Sesame Street is an important part of WVPT’s programming efforts on PBS KIDS.

“HOW THE BEATLES ROCKED THE KREMLIN”  is the extraordinary and untold story of how the Beatles punctured the Iron Curtain. In August 1962, award-winning director Leslie Woodhead made a two-minute film, in Liverpool’s Cavern Club, with a raw and unrecorded group of unknown rockers — the Beatles. Twenty-five years later, while making a series of films in Russia, Woodhead learned just how powerful Beatlemania was in the Soviet Union.

In “Birth of Humanity,” the second part of the three-part series “Becoming Human” NOVA investigates the first skeleton that really looks like us–”Turkana Boy”–an astonishingly complete specimen of Homo erectus found by the famous Leakey team in Kenya. These early humans are thought to have developed key innovations that helped them thrive, including hunting large prey, the use of fire, and extensive social bonds.
